JOLA WIECZOREK
Jola Wieczorek  ist eine österreichische Dokumentarfilmemacherin polnischer Herkunft. Sie ist Absolventin des internationalen Masterstudiengangs für Dokumentarfilmregie «DOC Nomads», für den sie ein Vollstipendium erhielt. Während dem Studium in Lissabon, Budapest und Brüssel realisiert sie verschiedene kurze Dokumentarfilme, die auf vielen internationalen Filmfestivals liefen.
Ihr Kurzfilm List do Polski gewann den Nachwuchspreis am Vienna Shorts. Ihr Abschlussfilm O que resta feierte am 68. Locarno Filmfestival seine internationale Premiere. 2015 erhielt sie das START-Stipendium für Filmkunst des Bundeskanzleramts Österreich.
Jola ist die Gründerin der Produktionsfirma Fahrenheit Films e.U. mit Sitz in Wien und unterrichtet Dokumentarfilm u.a. bei Docnomads, Filmkids.ch oder an der Kunstschule Winterthur. Ihr erster abendfüllender Dokumentarfilm Stories from the Sea hatte im Oktober 2021 am Viennale Film Festival Weltpremiere, gewann u.a. den Max Ophüls Preis für Beste Musik in einem Dokumentarfilm sowie den Local Artist Award am Crossing Europe Filmfestival. Stories from the Sea war außerdem für den Österreichischen Filmpreis in der Kategorie Beste Musik (Komponistin: Julia Kent) nominiert. 2023 erhält Jola Wieczorek den Outstanding Artist Award des Bundesministeriums für Kunst, Kultur, öffentlichen Dienst und Sport. Jola lebt in Wien und ist Mitglied bei FC Gloria und Dok.at


Jola Wieczorek is an Austrian Documentary Filmmaker of Polish origin. She is a graduate of the International Master Course in Documentary Film Directing «DOC Nomads» for which she was granted a full scholarship. During the master, that involved studying in Lisbon, Budapest and Brussels, she realised various documentaries that were screened at different International Film Festivals.
Her short film List do Polski won the Best Austrian Newcomer Award at the Vienna Shorts. Her graduation movie O que resta celebrated its International Premiere at the 68th Locarno Film Festival. In 2015 she received the START-Scholarship from the Arts and Culture Division of the Federal Chancellery of Austria. Jola ist the founder of the Vienna based production company Fahrenheit Films and teaches documentary film at a.o. Doc Nomads, Filmkids.ch and Kunstschule Winterthur. Her first feature documentary Stories from the Sea premiered at the Viennale in October 2021, won the Max Ophüls Preis for Best Music in a Documentary and the Local Artist Award at the Crossing Europe Film Festival. Stories from the Sea was also nominated for the Austrian Academy Film Award in the catergory Best Music (composer Julia Kent). In 2023 Jola Wieczorek receives the Outstanding Artist Award from the Federal Chancellery of Austria.
She is based in Vienna and is a member of FC Gloria and Dok.at
